Make Your Own Shampoo & Conditioner With Organic Oils

Make Your Own Shampoo & Conditioner:

Neem Moisturizing & Enriching Shampoo
Mix your favorite selection of ayurvedic hair care herbs, like reetha powder, amla, shikakai, and neem, into warm olive oil, coconut or avocado oil and then massage the oil into your scalp.
This regimen will work to prevent dry scalp and flaking without dandruff-free shampoos (which can actually worsen dandruff issues)

Mango Butter Conditioner
Mango Butter has barely any fragrance and it melts cleanly.
 1/2 cup mango butter
1 Tbsp each of Avocado oil
 Apricot oil.
Melt them together in a double boiler (a stainless steel mixing bowl over a pot of boiling water) then cool the mixture in the refrigerator until it set and turned translucent.

Next add 7 drops of your favorite fragrance like peppermint oil, lemon, jasmine, lavender or  tea tree essential oil and blended it with a hand mixer for about 4 minutes until it turned creamy.

Pour it in to a jar and it will set up to a firmer consistency.

The good oil guide

Emma Hobson, education manager at The International Dermal Institute, explains which oils to use and how to get the best results:
  • Rosehip oil has a high vitamin C content so is perfect to even out skin tone and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Sweet almond oil is good for dry, itchy skin and dry hair. Add a tablespoon to your conditioner for a moisture boost.
  • Apricot kernel oil helps skin retain elasticity, suppleness and clarity, so it's great for prematurely aged, dry or irritated skin.
  • Avocado oil helps regenerate and soften the skin. It's ideal as a massage oil or an intensive rehydrating face mask.
  • Coconut oil is solid at room temperature so needs to be warmed before use. Add a few drops to your bath water.
  • Jojoba oil is similar in composition to the skin's own oils, so is quickly absorbed, making it excellent for dry and mature skins as well as inflamed conditions."
